This site exists to answer one question — “what college should I go to?” — with real numbers instead of guesswork or sponsored placement. The quiz matches you to schools based on your own budget, preferred size, location, and major; the map and the major/state pages behind it let you browse the same underlying data yourself. Every school listed anywhere on this site is sorted or filtered by real, publicly reported figures, never by who paid for placement.

Where the data comes from

Cost, acceptance-rate, financial-aid, and enrollment figures come from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard dataset — the same federal data source schools themselves report to, not self-published marketing figures or a survey. The “cost” figure used throughout this site is each school's published sticker cost of attendance for the academic year (tuition, fees, room, board, and other estimated costs combined), and “average aid” is the gap between that sticker cost and the average net price students actually paid after grants and scholarships — so “cost minus aid” on any page here is a reasonable estimate of real-world net cost, not the sticker price alone. “Acceptance rate” is the share of applicants admitted in the most recent reporting year a school has on file. Where a school hasn't reported one of these figures, it's left out of averages and comparisons involving that figure rather than estimated or filled in.

How major and state pages are built

A major only gets its own page once at least 400 colleges report both cost and acceptance data for a program in that field, and a state only gets its own page once at least 20 of its colleges report the same — thresholds chosen so every page on this site reflects a genuinely useful sample of schools, not a handful of data points dressed up as a list. Every stat on a major or state page — the average cost, the public/private/community split, the aid gap, the cheapest-to-priciest range — is computed fresh from that page's specific set of schools, not copied from a template.

Advertising and sponsored links

This site is supported by Google AdSense advertising. A small number of major pages also include a clearly labeled “Sponsored” box linking to a relevant paid course or program. Sponsored links never affect which schools are listed, how they're sorted, or what any page says about them — those are computed directly from the College Scorecard figures above, independent of any advertiser.
